Zirconium Slim Bolt Action Pen

Same pen, thinner body, different clip. Both use our satisfying Bolt Action mechanism, the same machined texture, and the same lengths. The only difference is the diameter measuring at 0.43" across for the Bolt Action and 0.365" for the Slim Bolt Action which also makes it slightly lighter. Because of the thinner profile, we use a milled titanium clip secured with a screw and hidden post on the slim versions. Reach for the Bolt Action if you like a bit more to hold onto or the Slim if you want something that carries lean and disappears into a pocket. Everything else like the action, texture, and Lifetime Warranty are identical.

DLC stands for "Diamond-Like Carbon," an extremely hard, low-friction coating that's applied over titanium using an outside process. It's a finish, not a base material: the pen underneath is still machined titanium, with the DLC layer bonded on top. The result is a deep, matte-black surface that's exceptionally resistant to scratches and wear, so it keeps its stealthy look through years of daily carry. If you want the toughness of titanium in an all-black pen, DLC is the finish to choose.

The name is inspired by a bolt action rifle and works just about the same way. Push the bolt forward along the backwards "J" curve and it locks into a groove to hold the tip in place. Pull it back slightly and the spring forces it to retract. One fluid motion, no button to click, no cap to lose, and no accidental opening in your pocket. Because both sliding surfaces are machined extra smooth, the action feels amazingly satisfying and is a big part of why it's the pen we hand to new customers first.

Every material is machined to the same shape and tolerances. What changes is how the pen feels, ages, and weighs in your hand.

• Titanium – tough, lightweight, extremely corrosion resistant. Our best-selling, do-everything material and the easiest first pen. Offered in Machined, Stonewashed, and DLC finishes.
• Copper – naturally antimicrobial, hefty, and it develops a patina that darks with time and use. Basically, it ages with you which many people love but, if not, it can always be polished back to shiny.
• Bronze – a copper-tin alloy that machines beautifully and patinas like copper. It's on the heavy side and the character deepens the longer you carry it but can be polished to like-new.
• Zirconium – corrosion resistant with the look of a dark gray titanium. Rare, tough to machine, and made in small quantities but no doubt an exotic pick.

Titanium is the lightest, copper and bronze are noticeably heavy. Exact weights are listed on each product page under the Specifications.

Each length ships with a refill sized to fit it. The Standard comes with a black Pilot G2 0.7mm, the Short with a black Schmidt EasyFlow 9000 medium, and the Mini with a black Pilot G2 Mini 0.7mm. Plenty of customers swap in a personal favorite and our pens accept a wide range of "Euro Style" for Standard lengths and "Parker Style" for Short lengths.
