Orange Peel Side Click Pen

I highly recommend this model if you can still order one; it looks great, feels fantastic in the hand and the brass material makes it feel really substantial.

This Orange Peel Side Click model is now one of my favorite Tactile Pens due to the hammered (“orange peel”) finish on the barrel. Hammered brass always has an attractive look to it, in my opinion, and TT definitely delivered with this limited edition model.

I have several (okay; more than several…) TT pens, and as soon as I received this one I knew that it would be the first one I pick up to carry with me most days. The finish on the barrel makes the pen feel just right for my hand, and the side click mechanism makes the look sleek.

Honestly, my least favorite part of most TT pens is the ridged cuts in the barrels, used to increase grip on the pens. It’s my own fault; I tend to grip the pen barrels more tightly than most people, and the ridges end up being a little uncomfortable on those days when I write a lot. This model really hits my sweet spot for a textured barrel but not with ridges, so I’m hoping that the guys in Texas decide to use this technique for more items in the future.

I also have to mention how great the customer service is with Tactile Turn. UPS informed me that the package my pen was shipped in was lost in their system, and when I reached out to Andrew at TT he organized a replacement really quickly, and shipped it via a different carrier who delivered my pen to me without any delays. I've acquired a number of Tactile Turn pens over the years, in a variety of metals and finishes. Although I like all of them, I've come to appreciate the various versions of the Side Click Pen best...they just seem to fit my writing style best. Now, this new orange peel textured version in titanium is definitely my new go-to pen! The finish is textured enough to provide a firm, comfortable grip, yet subtle enough so as not to impede putting the pen in or taking it out of one's shirt or pants pocket. Although the bronze anodized version is great, I also look forward to seeing the orange peel finish applied to a number of other metals and colors, e.g., how about black zirconium? In the meantime, this is a great pen; you won't be disappointed!

Pretty subtle texture, kinda looks like ripples in the water. Nice passive grip texture without aggressive knurling. More low profile than a bolt style pen for use at work. The bronze is darkening at a nice pace, will be interested to see how the ridges of the texture brighten with pocket use. The clip is tight on all but a shirt pocket. Nice that it won’t come loose but would like to see a little more opening for pocket carry behind a pocket knife without bending the clip. If you guys made a wire gate style carabiner pocket clip that had a little more allowance for material thickness, I’d be down. Would have to find a different place for your sneaky logo placement however. Replaced refill with a .38 blue for small writing and detail drawing. Weight in hand is a little heavy but appreciable. Would buy again, solid pen.
